The game does not exist on your PC. Without access to their servers you can not play the game. LOTRO is a game designed to offer a variety of play experiences, and soloing is very viable for all of the Classes. It is not necessary to choose a particular class to solo effectively, although some classes are more enjoyable to solo with than others. Will downloading from the site itself alleviate any problems? Nope, it's because there are a whole lot of files and it's a large download.

The slowness is not related to the speed of your internet connection, but to the speed of your computer and disk drives. Both the download and update processes are multi-step processes. The "explanation" displayed on your screen is only a summary of what is happening.
The files are first downloaded to a temp area -- this speed of this part is dependent upon the speed of your disk drive as well as your internet connection. It is actually usually the fastest part of the operation. Next the files are "decompressed and decoded" -- for this they are read back into your computer's main memory from your disk drive, so the speed of the decompressing and decoding is dependent upon the speed of your CPU AND the speed of your disk drive. If this is the initial download theses files are then simply written back to your disk drive.
However, since these are large files, and the WRITE operation takes much longer than a read, it takes a significantly longer time than the initial download.
Join Date Dec Posts 4. I was surprised how long my initial download took. I actually turned off my firewall and double checked my router settings when I tried it a second time. I was able to start playing wow while it downloaded, so that kind of took the edge off. I then deleted it when I realized there was a high res version and downloaded that in well less than 2 hours.

Took me somewhere around 12 hours on my horrible internet connection. Don't pay attention for the percent for estimated time remaining. Her old archaic laptop computer which cannot run LOTRO anymore well, can launch the game, play the game albeit at a snails pace, then crashes due to system overload.
So this isn't that there is no internet signal etc etc, in that aspect things should be okay. I believe there must be something different in the OEM copy of Windows 10 on the system now, from what it was before. I have read multiple issues on the LOTRO Online forums, with people talking about this, but not having a resolved answer. Not only having this issue, but a good percentage said they were on an Alienware laptop.
Through pages of reading; n o solution. We need an answer please. This computer was expensive. The extras added on as of just a couple days ago, were costly. This needs an honest answer as to why. Both of us having gone through many different computers over those 14 years. It is very frustrating, and we need a clear solution please.
